Tralee welcomed @ballincolligrfc to O'Dowd Park this Saturday in the Munster Junior League
The away side started the game fast, scoring five minutes in. A wonderful solo try from the fullback after breaking out from their own 22. Ballincollig followed this up with two more tries leaving Tralee trailing 0-21 after 25 minutes. Tralee had a mountain to climb.
@benthwhobbit was unlucky after being held up following a good rolling maul a few moments later. Tralee slowly started to build into the game against a resolute Ballincollig defense. This consistent pressure was rewarded on 40 minutes. With a scrum on the Ballincollig 5 meter, @sean_mahony21 picked and went with @seamus_lyne converting. 07-21 at halftime. This gave Tralee some much needed momentum heading into the second half.
Good early defense kept Ballincollig penned in their half as Tralee went looking for a second try. This came on 46 minutes as Ben Glavin went over after @ismiseliam made some good meters on the outside. 12-21. Ballincollig responded by slotting an important penalty to push their lead to 12 points. A lovely floated pass from Harry Emerson allowed Liam Gannon to power his way over for Tralee's third try set up a tense last 10 minutes. 17-24. Five minutes later, an excellent carry from Cathal Kearney allowed Tralee to set up camp on Ballincollig's line and Ben Glavin scored his second try, Seamus Lyne adding another 2 points. A final push from Tralee 24-24 Final score. Both teams could not be separated after 80 minutes.
Thank you to Ballincollig for an excellent game. We now look forward to Christmas and a much needed break.
We hope to see everyone down at the club for our annual Christmas Exiles game on St Stephen’s Day. Details to follow!
